Part-Time Life Skills Coach/Mentor

Compensation: $15/hour
(up to 15 hours/week – experience preferred, but we’ll also train)

Want to make a real difference in someone’s life? We’re looking for a Life Skills Coach & Mentor to work with Chris, a 27 year old young man who’s energetic, active, fun-loving and adventurous and is working toward his goal of becoming more independent. He also has autism.

As a Life Skills Coach & Mentor, you’ll engage in various activities on a flexible schedule that can be set weekly to include 2 to 3 evenings per week and 1 weekend day, for approximately 2 to 3 hours per day.

The Difference You Can Make!

Chris is working on becoming more independent. His ability to learn about making responsible decisions and choices is enhanced when demonstrated through real life events. By engaging with him in activities he enjoys you’ll be showing him how the choices he makes lead to good outcomes. He enjoys a variety of activities, such as working out at the gym, hiking, bowling, playing video games, enjoying music/concerts, sports, fishing, snowboarding, and going to the movies. He’s also very social, has a good sense of humor and enjoys taking classes toward certificate programs.

Your Responsibilities

As his Life Skills Coach/Mentor you’ll engage with him in various activities (all activity fees will be covered), shopping, errands, etc. while working with him to better understand social interaction, making responsible decisions and choices, and in general be a positive influence while helping him work toward his goal of becoming more independent.

Being a Life Skills Coach/Mentor is a very rewarding position and you’ll see the results of your effort on a day-to-day basis. Your responsibilities are important, and will be sincerely appreciated by Chris’ family.

The ideal candidate will be someone who shares some of Chris’ interests and is viewed as a peer, preferably a male in the same age group. If you’re a caring and compassionate individual who will be a good role model, we’d like to talk to you. Experience in working with intellectual disabilities is a plus, but not required.
