dancepic-postimgThe ARC of Greater Manchester as we’ve known it has dissolved its association with the national organization. They’ve turned their funds over to The Moore Center so we can continue their important work in creating opportunities for our community to socialize by hosting dances and other social events.

As many of you know the ARC of Greater Manchester has been hosting dances and bowling for our clients for decades.  They usually have 6 dances between September and April, as well as a Saturday bowling schedule.  Our clients look forward to these activities so they can see their friends and have a nice, relaxed opportunity to socialize.

The Moore Center’s new social group, AARC (All About Recreation Committee), also called the Rec Committee, will continue these activities and is gearing up for a full fall & winter schedule of events!

Come On Out and Meet Others!

Our dances are for ages from mid-teen to adult, and we typically have between 100 to 250 people attend. There are lots of people to meet and engage with, and everyone has lots of fun! Bowling attendance is only limited by the number of lanes we have available, and if there’s more demand, we’ll find a way to get everyone involved.

We Need Volunteers!

Here is where you come in – because this is now going to be a committee of The Moore Center we need volunteers to help run the activities.  You only need to commit to one dance and it can be for coming early to set up, staying a little after to help clean up or to bring some of the refreshments.  You know the saying “it takes a village”, if we have many who can give just a little we can continue to have these dances and look for other ideas for social events throughout the year.

This doesn’t need to be limited to just staff; families, home providers and vendors would be a great resource and many of them do attend the dances regularly. It would be a great opportunity for high school volunteers to get to know our community too.

Please help us get the word out about our need for volunteers! Volunteering at these events is very rewarding and is much appreciated by all the participants and families. I hope you’ll consider giving even just one evening a year too so we can continue to ensure our clients have a great social time.

To participate in or volunteer at any of these events please email Joe Rojek at 603-206-2855.

Thank you all in advance and we look forward to continuing the important work of the ARC of Greater Manchester by continuing their important social activities!
